Europe, Wake the F* Up!
Dear European citizens, politicians, and leaders, here’s the blunt truth: it’s time to WAKE THE F*** UP. Trump is back in office in the U.S., doubling down on "America First," and that leaves us, Europe, at a crossroads. If we don't start getting serious about our own self-interest, we'll be caught flat-footed yet again, reliant on allies who look out only for themselves. Enough with the sleepwalking.
Energy Politics? We’re still fumbling around, playing catch-up. Our dependency on unstable sources is ludicrous. By now, Europe should be a fortress of clean energy, renewable investments, and resource independence. Instead, we're at the mercy of whatever geopolitical storm blows our way. We need a unified, ironclad energy policy, or we’ll just keep paying through the nose for it.
Defense? Let’s face it, we’re largely relying on American backing in NATO while U.S. politics swings wildly. We need a European military alliance, capable of holding its own if we want to actually protect our interests. Because you know what? The U.S. could easily leave us hanging, and Europe can’t be pretending to be a global power without the muscle to back it up.
Economy and Trade? The U.S. and China are battling for dominance, and here we are, looking on as if this doesn’t directly impact us. Why aren’t we deepening ties with BRICS and emerging markets? (Well, I know why. I just can’t digest it.)
Europe should be actively shaping alliances and agreements, not waiting for scraps from Washington or Beijing. If we don't create these ties ourselves, we'll just keep being pulled around like a pawn on their chessboard.
Ukraine—why is it Europe that bears the brunt of a conflict that's only driving divisions deeper? It's time to rethink what we’re gaining from this endless support for Zelensky. We need to be brokers of peace, not perpetuators of someone else's war. We’re literally financing a conflict that bleeds Europe dry without serving a single European interest.
And Ursula von der Leyen — wake up and stop sitting comfortably (or uncomfortably) on the sidelines! We still remember the incident in Turkey when you were literally sidelined. That wasn’t just a gaffe; it’s a metaphor for how we’ve let European leadership be treated on the world stage. You claim to defend women’s rights and Europe’s interests? How about putting Europe first, stepping up for real sovereignty, and refusing to let us be relegated to the diplomatic "sofa" again?
Europe, this is your moment. Either we take control of our destiny now, or we stay on that sofa, watching from the sidelines as the world marches on without us.
European politicians, this is about self-respect—yours and that of the people who put you in office. You can't keep pretending that sitting on the sidelines is a viable strategy, nor can you continue placing Europe’s fate in the hands of others. Look around: other nations are fiercely defending their own interests without hesitation. Why should Europe be any different?
It’s time to show that you respect your own roles, that you respect Europe, and that you respect the citizens who expect more than empty words and lukewarm actions.
Every day you hesitate, Europe loses ground.
Europe, WAKE THE F*** UP.
